Proposed Layout
Irene wanted to create a space where the furniture could easily be moved around so that each configurations would cater to a different activity or learning experience. The classroom must become a dance studio or Presentation room or an exam room effortlessly. The desks in the space are all mobile fold-and-nest tables that seat 2, the seating is lightweight and stackable. There are also workstations for group work around a TV monitor (coming later) paired with 4 mobile ottomans. The Cocoon Pods are great for private work or a reading nook.
Mitra’s colours are a bright orange and dark blue. We used playful fabric colours and patterns to bring in the colour and paired it with darker colours for practicality (kids play, things get dirty, and so it goes). A long table is a great place for students to gather, almost like around a dinner table, with a black chalk wall at the end.
